{Rock the Dress/Rock the Frock: Polly & Josh}

Let me set the scene for you. A tall gorgeous redhead in a custom designed 1950's inspired wedding dress. A tall bearded gentleman in a suave hat and perhaps the most awesome vintage mens jacket ever. Then let's add dark teal peep toe pumps, and a bouquet made of sparkling brooches and pins. What does all of that add up to? Polly and Josh's epic Rock the Dress/Rock the Frock session! Oh, and let's not forget that it was about 30 degrees outside, but from the looks of the photos, you can…

{Engagement Session-Amy and Matt}

This Saturday was a great day for an engagement shoot! The weather was perfect, the sun wasn't too bright, and the leaves were all gorgeous. Amy, Matt, and myself headed to Longwood Gardens for their session on that lovely day. Now just a few weeks prior, I did another engagement session there, and the flowers were all lush and beautiful and gorgeous. When we arrived there on Saturday, there were close to no flowers!!! Well obviously they were out of season, but we still made the best of it,… Continue

{Wedding: Kathryn and Ken}

Today was perfect weather for a gorgeous fall wedding! I had the lovely opportunity of photographing the wedding of Kathryn and Ken at the Frog Hollow Golf Club today, and I just couldn't wait to post some previews. The wedding was a very intimate affair, with close family and friends surrounding the bride and groom. This was actually the first wedding where I went from photographer to guest. I haven't been to a wedding as a guest in YEARS! So it was a nice change of pace. Although, about five… Continue

{Wedding: Rita and Michael...A pirates life for me!}

This past Saturday I photographed the most epic wedding ever. Well, it was actually a vow renewal, but epic none the less. Why was it epic? It was a pirate wedding! 9-25-2010 was the first fay of Pirate Weekend at the Maryland Renaissance Fair, which I attend quite often. So I was stoked when Rita asked me to cover her vow renewal at the renaissance fair itself. Everyone, including the officiant were dressed as pirates. This was Ritas' first time being dressed in ren garb, as a person who is… Continue

{Just Because (after wedding) Session: Dan & Cara}

Today was a great day, more of a double whammy. First I had a vendor shoot at The Brossman Center, and photographed gorgeous center pieces and delicious food. Then I had a "just because" shoot with Dan & Cara. I actually did Cara's "Rock the Dress" session, so this was another fun shoot together, but this time with her husband Dan. We went back to where they were married in June, the Judge Morris Estate in Newark, DE and did their session there. Cara and Dan are both writers, gamers, and… Continue

Happy Labor Day everyone! The weather here is absolutely beautiful, and my husband and I are about to go out and enjoy the end of summer bbq with our friends. But, before I go, I wanted to share some exciting news with you!

{Another Heartfelt Review}

As a photographer, it is one thing for me to market myself, my brand and my photography. Besides actually photographing the weddings, portraits, engagements, and session, the time that I spend with putting myself out there is literally a full time job. But there is but so much that I can do, which is why the words of my past clients are worth so much to me. A review from a past client (now friend) of mine is worth it's weight in… Continue

{DIY Flower Boutonniere}

Yesterday I was browsing the web for some fun DIY, crafty projects and came across the My DIY Wedding Day website. They feature lots of tips on creating a DIY wedding with your own personal style. Among the first page was their Flower Boutonniere tutorial, and I immediately fell in love. These little boutonnieres are so awesome and easy to make! The best part is that they reflect your personal style. I'm big on DIY gifts, because each gift I make is… Continue

{Rock the Dress: Ann}

I am loving these Rock the Dress sessions more and more. I'm lucky to be surrounded by so many people with vintage wedding gowns, or even vintage dresses worn as gowns. I love all things vintage! Something about a dress from the 1940's or 1950's transforms you into old Hollywood glamor, it's so amazing.

Today I did a Rock the Dress session with the lovely Ann. And her dress, was absolutely gorgeous. She wore a deep ivory floor length dress that was made in the 1940's, with black peep… Continue

{Heartfelt words from the Brides Father}

Today I received probably the best email and review that I have ever read. It is from the father of one of my past brides, and it moved me to tears when I read it. I love what I do, and will always love it. But, it is letters like this, that make me love my job even more.

"As the father of the bride, I must say that Marisa went above and beyond what I would have expected from a wedding photographer. We booked Marisa very close to the wedding date, as…

{DIY Project: Chalkboard Speech Bubbles}

The new craze lately at weddings have been awesome speech bubbles. They give some extra fun and spark to your photos. Many have been using them for their photo booth wedding photos. Admittedly, they are quite fun. Anything that makes you look like a cartoon is awesome. Now you can easily buy these on sites like Photojojo or Etsy, but being the craftaholic that I am, I decided to try to make my own. And it was a success! So… Continue

{Real Wedding: Jessica & Kyle}

Can I just say how much I love my job? Meeting people like Jessica and Kyle, their entire family and wedding guests makes me love what I do more and more each day. By the end of the day, I felt like a part of the family!

Jessica and Kyle were married in Lewes, DE. The ceremony was held at the Canal Front Park Marina, which was decorated gorgeously. The theme was a beach wedding, and little touches of the sea were added. Such as starfish and shells. The colors were soft, with pinks… Continue

Garter Toss! And other awesome Stuff!

So being a wedding photographer, I obviously get to see the many wedding "traditions" that we have known to come to love, and sometimes hate. From the first dance, bouquet toss, garter belt, and the cutting of the cake, I personally love each moment of a wedding. Understandably, not every bride caters to tradition. Some are a bit more formal than others, while some ditch some of the traditions all together. One tradition that seems to stir up a lot of controversy is the garter belt retrieval… Continue

Cara's Rock the Dress Session <3

Earlier today, Cara and I headed to the Judge Morris Estate located in Newark, DE to shoot her Rock the Dress session. The Judge Morris Estate happened to be where Cara, and her now husband, Dan were married on 6-5-2010. First let me tell you, it is an absolutely gorgeous estate. It has lots of wide open green field, with some stone walls, and a gorgeous house. For weddings, you can rent the house and… Continue

Alison's Rock the Dress Session <3

Today was my first Rock the Dress session of the summer. Let me say, that it was a blast to shoot, and I can't wait to do more! I have two more scheduled for this week, and I am really looking forward to them!

Alison's dress was absolutely beautiful. A vintage ivory lace dress, accented with an off white hat, and an orchid hair clip that Alison made herself. The whole ensemble was gorgeous. And if you know me, you know I love anything vintage. The weather was just perfect, the sun… Continue

Bride & Groom Pictures: Before or After the Ceremony?

We all know the tradition, superstition, bad luck tale of the groom seeing the bride before the actual wedding, but how does it effect the pictures. Typically, the couple takes their “formal” pictures right

after the ceremony and before the reception. Most couples have a 30-45

minute, sometime a 60 minute break before the reception to do the

photographs. And let’s not forget family, this is also the time that

the family members, bridal party, and groomsmen take their…

Unique Keepsake Gift for my Clients!

Even after I am done photographing a wedding, and the couple receives their photos, I still want to give them something extra! Me, being the creative spirit that I am came up with a great idea that is unique and green. See, I have tons of recycled card stock paper for scrapbooking. Different patterns, designs, finishes etc. I decided to create custom, hand made DVD envelopes to present my clients with when they receive their DVD. That way, they get the extra gift I wanted to give them as a… Continue
