Hello Wedding Professionals,
I need your help! I'm preparing a blog post that will be published next month, which will be called: 2018 Wedding Predictions.

Here's what I need you to do...
Here's an example...
2018 Weddings Will Experience Dramatic Opulence. Lush, romantic linens and floral arrangements set the tone for an opulent affair. When designing, you want to add that
"drama" piece - whether it be in your intricate table linens, a gleaming candelabra, bride and groom chairs, or hey, even a wall of flowers! Also, keep the look consistent. Keep centerpieces of the same height, one style of chairs, and lush tablescapes. There is a wonderful tone of softness in these looks. In the picture to the left we see a dramatic, visually stimulating table. But look closer - doesn't the decor convey romance and a certain sense of whimsical? The "Dramatic Opulence
wedding trend is all about creating an experience within the event.

And here's a look at last year's 2017 wedding trends predictions.
Thanks in advance for your help. I can't wait to see what you think will happen to weddings in the New Year!

Hello, blush! The popular pale pink shade is sticking around, but we will be seeing it paired with a darker, dusty pink, as well as, silver and navy! Brides are choosing to brighten up the color palette for 2018 with the darker pink color and adding a dashing deep navy (a neutral that works well with anything and compliments any body shape). This makes it the perfect choice for a spring wedding!

As a certified destination wedding & honeymoon planning specialist, Hawaii is trending as the leading destination of choice for couples who choose to wed or honeymoon outside of the continental U.S. Why is this?
Hawaii has all of the perfect ingredients for a destination wedding or honeymoon. Amazing climate, scenery that will take your breath away, top-notch resorts, gorgeous beaches, a foodies playground for cuisine, and outdoor adventures.
According to a recent study, Hawaii accounted for 35% of destination weddings. The Hawaii Tourism Authority reports that for the first 6 months of 2017, there were 51,677 visitors who came to Hawaii for destination weddings. Numbers don't lie!
The Hawaii Tourism Authority projects these numbers to increase, as do I. Zika concerns throughout the Caribbean and South America are influencing couples' decisions when it comes to a destination for their wedding or honeymoon, and Hawaii is at the top of the list for 2018.

2018 Promises to offer lush green weddings with foliage being key to creating intimate and beautiful event spaces. The look is dramatic with hanging installations (think hoops, green chandeliers, frames of floral abundance) and tall risers on tables filled with foliage and cascading blossoms. If you’re dreaming of a wedding tucked deep away in a forest, then 2018 will be the year for you!
In keeping with this back-to-nature style, we’ll see ample potted plant installations on floors and tables – anything goes here. Think cacti and succulents, olive leaf, eucalypt and even grasses for the Bohemian look or ferns and deep green foliage for a softer, romantic feel.
With the rise of leaf we will also see tropical making a comeback after 10 years in the floral wilderness, it’s palms and ferns all the way for this trend. Experiment with different textures to nail this look with split coconut tea light shells, found and interesting wood formations, sea glass and orchids (Phalaenopsis are back for sure) spilling over tables and from lush tropical foliage.
These trends will also flow to bouquets. In the past few years we have seen the return of the 1920’s vintage bouquet but with a modern twist. The look is non-traditional with textured and foraged elements such as twigs, grasses, berries and even fruits finding their way into this wild and free bouquet style. But take care; this style of bouquet is not for the DIY bride because while these bouquets may look casual and a little haphazard it takes expert skill to attain the balance and volume they require. Get it wrong and it will simply look strange. And if big bouquets are your thing, take heart, in 2018 they are going to grow even bigger with branches of foliage and grasses reaching out beyond florals to create that ethereal and just-gathered feel.
This lush look even extends to outdoor feasting tables, which are bang on trend for the coming year with bridal celebrations spilling out into fields under canopies of foliage and stars. Lighting, as always is key – clear warm festoons, twinkle lights and candles, always candles! Shared feasting platters are de rigueur for these celebrations with a ‘family feast’ feel. And while flowers will always be an integral part of the wedding, if your budget is tight, you can always go heavy on the foliage with a few less flowers, or even just foliage, to create beautiful, low budget options.
And last, while some of us may diligently follow the trends, there will always be some who yearn for a traditional wedding with formal bridal posies and a subdued setting. If that’s what sets your heart racing, then that’s what you should have. It’s your wedding so have exactly what you feel is right for you and current fashions be dammed. Ultimately, your wedding should be a beautiful reflection of you and your partner so that your guests walk in and exclaim, “Wow, this is so them!”
2018 brides are taking more control over their ceremonies Gone are the days where the officiant chose what was said at the ceremony. Couples are taking more interest in the ceremony wording and order of events. They are scouring to find marriage vows and ceremony wording that really fit them along with the perfect readings. Adding unique additions to their ceremonies like special parent blessings, Unity Cross ceremonies, hourglass ceremonies, and box and/or wine ceremonies to name a few are finding their way into most ceremonies now. There is also a huge increase in couples writing their own vows which always adds laughter and sometimes a few tears and really culminates the personalization of the whole ceremony.

We are expecting continued growth in the popularity and appeal of romantic woodland weddings. From beautifully simple backyard ceremonies to lavish forest weddings, like the one pictured here, in legendary locations such as Big Sur. We're seeing great enthusiasm for the beauty and peaceful ambiance only nature can provide!
Maybe for not every area of the country, but from my state of Texas, I predict that outdoor weddings will continue to be popular with wineries being the most popular venues. I also feel that the brides will do more hands on decorating. This is depicted in the photo of a wedding I played this summer in Burleson, Texas at Lost Oak Winery. The bride made the wreaths herself. There may be several reasons for do it yourself. It lowers cost, plus, it allows a bride to personalize her ceremony with her tastes, and not an outsider's taste. If she is creative, it also gives her a chance to express her own creativity. This can be very rewarding in itself. Laura Cummings Sounds of Laura: Great Piano Music www.soundsoflaura.com
This past season I have done 5 Barn Weddings, which is up from 3 last year. For 2018, I have 3 already currently booked. I see this as something that is going to be very popular for next season. From the bits and pieces of information that I pick up from both the Brides & Grooms as well as from the venue managers, this COULD be a cost-driven choice in as much as it is atmosphere-driven. Thoughts on that?
B&Gs seem to be watching the dollars spent a little more....economy driven? A few of my "up-sell options" are not being taken advantage of quite as much this season as it has been in previous years. Look out 2018 if that's the case!
Bridal separates will be immensely popular in 2018, as brides embrace the two-piece wedding dress trend to reflect their personal style statement. By mixing and matching tops and skirts in this interesting twist on the traditional wedding gown style, bridal outfits will marry together different textures, details and styles in either half and create unique looks. Consider it the ideal customized option for brides who cannot decide on a single style of wedding dress.

Foliage and succulents will be the trending favorite in bridal bouquets and wedding centerpieces, balancing bright and colorful blooms with soft greenery for an updated look and feel. Resilient succulents and cacti arranged strategically in bouquets create show-stopping arrangements, with an earthy, moody and whimsical effect.
