For bridal dresses, CAPES are becoming popular! Cape gowns have been popular in western fashion for years but it only made a come back a few years back with cape bridal gowns. It came back in spurts and officially put its foot down when Jennifer Lopez had a cape effect in a beautiful yellow gown at the Golden Globe Awards 2016. Here's a picture of a bridal cape gown that's trending now on Pinterest:

Now for Indian Wedding Dresses (cause that's what Gujarati Dresses is about), Dupattas can be completely caped (if there is such a word but you know what I mean) or partially by having it hang behind each shoulder, also called the 'arm cape'. Here is a picture of a short cape and because it's there we don't need a long dupatta anymore nor do we need pins for it! Life just became much more convenient (you're welcome!).

Here is another idea for a long cape lehenga choli:

Bridal headpieces made of floral and crystal accents are growing in popularity along with textured gowns embellished with floral appliques. Breeziway options in this category include the hand cut and pressed silk flowers of the crystal encrusted Elysabeth headband or comb, the vintage-inspired Sophia birdcage veil, and our flirty, wisp flower veil.

Another growing trend in bridal headpieces are hair gems of diverse designs made to complement particular hairstyles in ways that enhance the beauty of open-open back gowns. Breeziway options in this category include the Debi crystal headwrap which can be worn across the crown, over the forehead, or surrounding a chignon or updo, the exotic Vivian skull cap, or the ever-versatile, Interlocking-C crystal wraps.

My prediction for 2016 bridal fashion trends is lace, lace and more lace, especially long lace sleeves and lace overlay.  http://www.crystalpearl.etsy.com

Here in California, we're seeing a strong trend toward soft, almost ethereal gowns for weddings, whether they be ranch, winery, beach, mountains or resorts locales. Strapless is still very strong, but more designers are coming out with non-strapless designs that don't look "heavy" or matronly. Color is stronger than ever before for us, but very soft muted tones of blush, nude, champagnes. These colors really make the lace pop on gowns and are extremely flattering on many skin tones and brides.  Here are a couple of our newest styles:

At Best for Bride, a trend that we see many 2016 brides embracing is Tiered skirts. This is a feature that blends femininity with style, and appeals strongly to brides who prefer to look elegant and modern. The beauty of this wedding dress feature is that it can be adapted to suit both contemporary and classic tastes, and can be as dramatic or subtle as one desires.

Tiers add just the right volume to a wedding skirt, so it has extra texture but isn't too poufy. Hence it makes the perfect compromise for the bride who wants a contemporary look and her mother who prefers to see her daughter in a wedding dress with a touch of class.

Tiered skirts are usually featured on A-line and mermaid silhouettes, with the feature adding a regal effect to the former and drama to the latter. This single element instantly dresses up both silhouettes, and the whimsical detail goes well with almost every wedding dress neckline. Not only does it look highly fashionable, it is also very romantic.

Here are two dresses to demonstrate this special feature.

In this beautiful tulle gown from the Mori Lee 2016 spring collection, Alencon lace defines the scalloped edges in each tier. The trumpet silhouette snugly fits along the natural curves of the body, all the way from the sweetheart neckline to the waist and hips, from where the fluttering tiers make their appearance. The Mori Lee 6817 is another lovely dress from the Spring 2016 collection, with tiers in the skirt. The layers on this organza gown have an asymmetrical design, which creates a fun and flirty effect. This light weight dress is from the Voyage collection and is a great choice for a destination wedding. (http://www.bestforbride.com/viewDress/5017/MoriLee/Bridal.php)

More tiered dresses are available for you to choose from, at Best for Bride Bridal Store, Canada's top bridal destination for wedding dresses and all things bridal. http://www.bestforbride.com
