DIY Invites - Worth the Fuss?

A lot of brides today see invitations as one area where they can cut costs by doing it themselves. I'm curious to know if it really does save money. Whether you're a DIY bride or a shop-around bride, share here what kind of money it's costing for you to complete your invitation ensemble (don't forget the save-the-dates, RSVPs, wedding programs, and thank-you notes). We are really interested in hearing this answer. Personally, we feel it's a lot more work than they originally think. But hey, if it works for them great!

Jacklyn I think you're right on point. I think brides see the cost associated with ordering invitations and immediately start looking for ways to save. BUT not all brides have the creative talent to execute this type of project. Something I think brides who are looking to save can leverage, are resources that help them format their wedding stationary. Brides can also purchase predesigned sets that are ready to be printed and cut at home. One final idea for those who may not have all of the skill needed is to purchase prefabricated elements, and put them together. For instance purchasing pocket folders for your invitation, and panel cards that can be printed at home, and simply need to be adhered to the folder.

I don't think it saves money because there is so much trial and error involved. Unless they are super creative and talented at it, it is cheaper to leave it to the professionals!
