Music is one of the highlights of the wedding ceremony. However, this important detail usually leave it until the last minute. While the bride groom walk toward the music you hear on stage must represent the bride and groom want to create. It can be a sublime setting with soft music piece, such as a scene of royal court with a march.

You are right on the mark with this. Music sets the mood and creates a lasting memory. It should be carefully considered because it will linger in memories for years to come. Especially at the ceremony, which begins the marriage celebration, live music is an important element. If the music you use includes text, be sure the text is fitting for your ceremony. Even if it's going to be played only as a instrumental, there will be plenty of people who know the words. The question to ask yourself is "Do I want the words to this song racing through the minds of my guests while I'm getting married?" There are lots of creative ways to include music in a personalized way. There are lots of examples of what some of the couples I've worked with have used at http://www.hornandharp.com/songlists/weddingceremonies.html.
As a DJ, I see first hand the tendency of Ceremony Music to be treated as an afterthought by both Couples, and even other/many DJ's.

I try to do my best to provide my clients with tons of options from the traditional to the non-traditional. Many folks would like some classical selections, but not the "same old" selections that are on every Wedding Ceremony CD. The standbys by Bach, Handel, Mendelsohn, Pachelbel, Wagner, etc. are all wonderful and timeless and have their place, but there is so much more available. Paganini, for example, is one of our favorites, as he has many selections that are appropriate for either Prelude (guest seating before the Ceremony) or Processional (walking down the isle) selections.

For all of the most common selections, your provider should also be able to offer you different arrangements and instrumental combinations. For example, we have the most common selections in Orchestra, String Quartet, Solo Piano, and many other instrumental combinations. There are plenty of options to make sure that you can create the ceremony that is just right for you.

Also, as Barbara mentioned, contemporary music with vocals can be used for Ceremonies as well - but you should give thought to the lyrical content itself to ensure that it is appropriate for the occasion. An exceptional DJ will even be able to help you further by offering editing as an option to "remix" a song by rearranging the vocal and instrumental sections of your selection to make it fit your needs. Sometimes a musical intro needs to be either lengthened or shorted to make it time correctly for your walk to the alter. Other times, perhaps you may want to skip the first verse of a song and go right into the chorus. An example of an edit we did include a version of "Your Song" by Elton John that we created for the Bridal Party Processional. The edited version of the song was the Bride's way of saying thank you to her party and showing her appreciation for their roles in her life.

Be sure that all of these options are available to you, and included in your package price, when you are considering DJ services to help you create the Ceremony that is right for you.

While anyone can pick up a "wedding cd" at Barns & Noble and play a couple of songs, when you are hiring a professional service provider, you should expect - and get - much, much more!
