Hi everyone!

I've been a personal blogger for quite some time now but am just now delving into the waters of wedding blogging. My question is this-where do most wedding bloggers get their content? Specifically Real Wedding features. Do I just email a photographer and ask if I can feature one of his weddings? Any and all feedback would be SO appreciated. Thank you!

Caitlin,

Top blogs like to have the right of first refusal on features like real weddings. So a photographer might hold out submitting a wedding to an upstart blog in favor of submitting to a blog with a larger, loyal audience.

My suggestion would be starting off in a different place, like trends, new lines, inspiration boards, reception site reviews, etc. When you get a following built up, pair with a few photographers for repetitive features of real weddings, like one photographer's work is posted every Monday. When you get your loyal following, photographers will be more likely to submit editorial stuff on their own.

Good luck!

Tap your resources. Connect with other wedding professionals you've met in various places and see if they will write a blog post for you about their particular niche.

There are so many things out there that brides are interested in. Everything from scrapbooking / journaling about the lead up to the wedding ... to what to do with your flowers after the wedding ... to black and white photography ... to tutorials for brides who want to do some basic things themselves (and this could be something as simple as jazzing up a pillow for a ringbearer or embellishing a cake topper).

The options are endless.

The poster would get exposure to your followers - and most likely post the link to his/her own website or FB page. And that would get YOU exposure. Also if the person doing the posting can do a small giveaway, that might help too.

Cayla, that's a well made point about photographers and right of first refusal, by the way.

Hope this helps.

Best -
