WEDDING TIP WEDNESDAY - AirBnB vs Venue Space - Which is better?

I recently talked with an acquaintance of mine about her upcoming wedding and her honeymoon plans. She mentioned that she and her fiance booked a great Airbnb on the beach for the event instead of a traditional venue.

The longer we talked, the more I realized that it made complete sense for her situation and solved her venue and honeymoon dilemma. Most of the venues they had toured were too big and impersonal for the small and casual wedding they desired. The smaller ones didn’t have dates available, were expensive, or didn’t have the overall vibe that she sought.

Not only was it the perfect solution for their wedding ceremony and reception, but it helped solve their honeymoon dilemmas as well—as they would just honeymoon in the fantastic beach house that they were already renting. It made a definite win-win sit
uation.

We have learned that many other couples are choosing this same route because it helps alleviate some of the wedding planning stress and can be a cost-effective way to simultaneously plan a fabulous and awesome honeymoon without having to
postpone/cancel it or budget for it separately.

Could This Be the ANSWER to YOUR Honeymoon Dilemma?

Here are some things to think about if you’re considering going the Airbnb route for your own wedding and honeymoon package.

Airbnb is THE ANSWER TO YOUR HONEYMOON Dilemma

If you’re like my friend, you know that touring endless wedding venues can be exhausting and overwhelming. Some are too fancy; some are not fancy enough. They can also be too big or too small and sometimes they are just not available on the dates you want.

Many couples think outside of the box and choose to go the Airbnb route instead. With so many unique properties to choose from in endless amazing destination locations, couples having smaller weddings are finding beautiful places to host them, often for a fraction of the cost of a traditional venue and fits in with their honeymoon plans.

That Sounds Great! Is It as Easy as Just Finding a Spot and Booking It?

Although the steps involved in booking an Airbnb are easy to do directly from their website (https://www.airbnb.com/), there are some additional measures you’ll need to take if you’re planning on hosting a wedding or event there.

  • Read the rules. Make sure the Airbnb allows weddings to take place there. Some Airbnb hosts do not allow events or parties on their property. So hosting a party could land you in trouble. Always check the full description of the property and any rules associated with it. If you are unsure, reach out to the host for clarification.
  • Verify the pricing and rental packages. If you’re only planning on using the house for the weekend, make sure that there are no restrictions on the number of nights you are allowed to rent. Also, figure in the costs of any deposits and taxes in addition to the nightly rate to make sure it fits your budget.

Airbnb Can Help You Get the Honeymoon You Want

Choosing an Airbnb can be a great way to have a smaller destination wedding without going through a large resort or hotel chain. It’s also an excellent way to incorporate your honeymoon into the wedding planning and overall budget. It’s an unfortunate reality that so many couples are choosing to forgo the honeymoon these days because of budgeting constraints.

If you host your wedding at an Airbnb, you can simply extend your stay at the property a few days longer and start the honeymoon immediately after the guests have left. Chances are, the cost of renting the Airbnb for a whole week will equal less money than hosting a wedding in a separate venue and jetting off on the honeymoon afterward.
