There are a lot of interesting statistics to support the claim that getting married helps you live longer. (see
ABC Health and
BNet)

But what I'm more interested in the health benfits of actually
getting married.
Using myself and my fiance as the Guinea pig for this blog I have to say that planning and organising a wedding has increased our energy, our fitness, our diet and our health immensely.
Currently the fiance is down almost 20 kilos and still losing , where as I pride myself on my humble by comparison 5 kilos and new trimmer frame.
I have ceased to bite my nails and have maintained short but nice looking nails for the past 6 months, not to mention I am actually treating myself to trips to the day spa.
And our diet has changed drammatically! No more bad foods, too many sweets and loads of take away. It's meat and 3 veg all the way (Although we do treat ourselves to a cheat night once a week to deal with the cravings)
Our Life and Health has done a 180 since we got engaged and I think this would be the case for a lot of couples.
How many Brides have given up the smokes for their big day because they didn't want to ruin their dress or get caught having a quick fag in a photo?
Not to mention the last minute gym trips or walks to be looking trim and terrific on your big day (for both the bride and the groom)
Being such a focus for your wedding day is giving couples the excuse to start making some major life changes. Saying "I Do" means a happier, healthier you.
