Kez is a young Newcastle marriage celebrant www.wedbykez.com
The week before your wedding is hectic! As a bride you are having things plucked, pulled, waxed, sprayed, painting, curled etc and the Groom.. well he at least has to have a shave. On top of every little detail that you and fiance are trying to finalise your celebrant wants to have a rehearsal!! How inconvenient..and yet how essential to having a smooth running ceremony.
Imagine, if you will, that you paid top dollar to see Britney Spears and all she did was lip sync and stand still.... er.. ok bad example But my point it, the reason hours and hours go into rehearsals of concerts, theatre, musicals, shows, any kind of "performance" is so on the day, it becomes like second nature.
So on your wedding day, the day you want everything to be perfect, you can't just hope "it'll all be alright on the night".
When I meet with a couple for the first time, I always impress on them the importance of a rehearsal. Having some idea of the structure of the ceremony, where to stand, what to do, what comes next, actually helps on the day when the emotions kick in.
Not knowing what your doing can make you nervous, nervous makes you think you might need a drink, too many drinks and you end up like Mariah... and no one wants that at a wedding.
Good advice. I've seen enough wedding toasts to know that planning ahead makes a huge difference. The endless, wandering babbling isn't something you're going to want on your wedding video!
