This is not so much a blog as an open discussion. I am generally confused when it comes to the bridal party and who pays for what.

Comment by Patricia McClain Osborne on June 1, 2010 at 9:19pm: Typically with so many families not being able to afford the traditional ways of who pays for what. The bride and groom may pay for the main part of the wedding expense. Example: venue, dj, wedding cake, favors, etc. Typically the groom gets his tux free when his has x many groomsmen, the bride or the brides family may pay for the wedding gown. Bridesmaids usually pay for their own gowns. You simply do what you can afford to do.
For my daughters wedding my husband and I paid for the wedding gown,flowers and the supplies for her invitations, gifts for the guests and bridesmaids. She made those herself. She is very talented that way. I made the bridesmaid dresses and flower girl dress as well as my own. Her fiance now husband paid for the venue, reception, etc.
