According to the Postal Regulatory Commission, US postage prices are scheduled to increase: Mid April, 2011.
The good news is that the first class stamps issued in 2011 will be “forever” stamps, so their value will not require extra postage over time, as they have in years past. In fact, the USPS just posted photos of the new stamps for 2011.
Among the featured stamps are the Lunar New Year (with two kumquats), Ronald Reagan (to be unveiled in February), new wedding stamps with two white roses resting on an invitation (on sale in August), Toy Story’s Buzz Lightyear (also available in August) and Missouri’s favorite Mark Twain (on sale in June) … just to name a few.
For those of you who really plan ahead, the 2011 Christmas stamp will feature Raphael’s Madonna of the Candelabra, while the contemporary holiday stamp will feature a block of four Holiday Baubles. Remember Christmas is only 356 days away…
So, until the Post Office announces the new rates, the current 2011 postage rates are as shown below:
$0.28 postcards
$0.44 First-class, 1 oz
$0.64 1 oz mailings, unusual shapes, non machineable
$0.61 2 oz mailings
$0.78 3 oz mailings
$0.95 3.5 oz mailings
$1.39 4 oz mailings
$4.95 Priority Mail (up to 16 oz)
