When the Wedding Dress You Love is Too Pricey

Every bride dreams of the day when she’ll find that beautiful wedding dress. It will make her glow from the inside out, look 10 pounds thinner and 5 years younger. Perhaps it has a touch of magic, that wedding dress. But some brides have discovered the great disappointment that the wedding dress of their dreams is just too pricey. It can cause many tears and frustration when you realize the dress you adore is the one you won’t be wearing down the aisle.

Well, fortunately there are some things a bride can do to remedy the situation. Sometimes this means you get to wear the dress you’ve been dreaming about since that very first moment you saw it – and other times it means discovering a new dream. But our helpful tips can all lead to one glorious solution: a beautiful bride on her wedding dress wearing a dress she adores.

Become (temporarily) frugal. If you love the dress and you’ve simply got to have it, this could be the time to start cutting some financial corners. You will have so many out going costs from wedding vendors to the Hen Do and Stag party that you can feel financially overstretched. You may already be doing this planning your wedding, but a few more cutbacks could mean you do get to wear the dress of your dreams. You’ve just got to think creatively. We aren’t going to say where the “perfect” cuts to make in your budget are: only you can decide that. But think practically and logically, and remember that the wedding industry is a HUGE business. Do you really need a “Buff Brides Bootcamp” instead of just going to the gym, or going for a run outdoors? Every corner you cut, if you keep your calculator handy, could help to lead to the dress of your dreams.

Sometimes imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. A trick women have been using for years is to go to a seamstress to have dresses made when they admire a dress. Having a wedding dress made is not going to be a cheap endeavor, but sometimes it can be less expensive than buying that dress you’ve got your eye on. You do need to be selective and choosy about picking the best seamstress for making your dress, ask for personal references from friends and family, especially from brides or others who have had special event outfits made.

Consider a dress with some of the same elements. This is another excellent option if that dress of your dreams remains far out of reach. Think about what you love about that wedding dress. Is it the fabric, the embroidery, the pearls or some other detail? Now its time to look for other wedding dresses that have similar details that you’ll fall in love with. What may surprise you is that you may fall in love just as deeply with one of the dresses with elements that you like, as the dress you’ve been swooning over!

Our best tip to you: don’t stress or fuss if you love a wedding dress but it is too pricey. There are always options, and you’ll either find a way to wear the dress you love, or find another dress that you’ll love just as much. Every bride deserves to be beautiful on her wedding day!
