When a Jewish person marries a person of another faith.

I remember as a child how my Jewish relatives were so upset (or went out of their way to make you believe) when a Jewish person married or even dated a non-Jewish person. I am an interfaith Rabbi and have dedicated my ministry to Jewish/Interfaith couples. I believe love comes before religious tradition. Interfaith couples should be encouraged to have a wedding ceremony customized to suit their own beliefs. The wedding officiant should be sensitive to the needs and desires of both families to combine ( when asked) meaningful religious or ethnic traditions into the ceremony. As a Rabbi, I am very willing to co-officiate with clergy from all other faiths. God is every one's God, and we, as humans, sometimes forget that we are the ones who have made the religious differences so outstanding. If you truly love someone, you're are actually doing God's will. First and most important God wants us to be happy.

Talk to me about interfaith marriage anytime.

With love and joy

Rabbi Bill
