What Kinds of Products Should I Use in my Bridal Skin Care Routine?

Your wedding day is about celebrating all things beautiful, including your skin. Therefore, you need a skin care regimen that will help showcase your skin at its best and help you stand out amidst the enchanting ambiance.

A good skin regimen involves layering various useful products, which the following 10-step daily skin care tips will help you understand.

Oil-Based Cleanser

Beginning your skin care routine with an oil-based cleanser helps to remove all traces of makeup, sunscreen, and any other gunk that your skin has accumulated throughout the day. It also helps provide your face with a bit of moisture to help soften your skin as you cleanse.

To use an oil-based cleanser, simply massage the product over your entire face and throat to dislodge any substances and then splash your face with warm water to disperse the cleanser.

Massage the oil-based cleanser throughout your face and neck and then rinse it off to reveal a make-up free base to build on.

Water-Based Cleanser

Now that you have removed your makeup using the oil-based cleanser, next cleanse your face with a water-based cleanser, also known as a foam or gel cleanser, to help remove any impurities that are left behind, which can also cause breakouts if not thoroughly removed.

Exfoliator

Removing dead skin cells is vital to enable your skin care products to absorb into your skin and do their work successfully. It also stimulates new cell turnover below the skin to revive and refresh the skin. Therefore, at least twice weekly, gently apply an exfoliant to your skin to slough away dry, dull, skin cells to reveal smooth, refreshed skin ripe for receiving the full effects of your facial products.

Toner

Toners help tighten your pores, which makes your skin smoother and helps prevent dirt and debris from penetrating your skin, which can cause irritation and breakouts. They also help balance your skin's pH, which helps keep your skin at its healthiest, and they also dampen your skin, which makes it easier to rehydrate.

After thoroughly cleansing your face, apply a bit of toner to your hands and then tap it onto your face, working outwards, or dampen a cotton ball with some toner and then dab the toner all over your face and neck to prepare them for rehydration.

Serum

Serums act similar to concentrated essences in that they directly treat any underlying issues you are concerned with, such as dull skin, large pores, wrinkles, acne, pigmentation, and more, for the perfect skin perfecting step.

Apply a bit of serum to your fingers and then gently tap them into your skin, or apply a bit of serum to a cotton ball and then gently tap it into your face and throat for improved skin.

Moisturizer

Moisturizer helps hydrate your skin, for dewy, glowing skin that also helps combat against fine lines and wrinkles. Moisturizers are available in various types, including cream, lotion, gel, and emulsions, so simply select a moisturizer that is suitable for your skin type to lock in moisture, refine wrinkles and fine lines, and plump the skin.

Begin with an eye moisturizer, which helps hydrate and protect against fine lines and wrinkles around the delicate eye area for smooth, refreshed eyes.

When applying a moisturizer to the eye area, use your ring finger to gently tap the product around the eyes, but avoid rubbing the moisturizer in because it can cause irritation and puffiness. You should also be sure not to get the product in the eye's waterline, which can also cause irritation. Next, apply a facial moisturizer onto your face and neck each day both morning and night.

Sunscreen

Finally, apply a sunscreen with at least a 30 SPF. The sun contains harmful UV rays, which have been shown to contribute to sun spots, premature wrinkling, and in some cases, even cancer. Therefore, no matter how long or how short you are outside, it is important to apply sunscreen to your skin to protect against harmful UV rays.

Apply sunscreen at the start of your day and then all throughout the rest of the day as needed to help preserve your skin. Be sure to apply sunscreen as the final step in your skincare regimen so that it is not diluted by other products.

Night Cream

Night creams help provide your skin with overnight moisture and repair, so you wake up to vibrant, refreshed skin. They are usually thicker and more hydrating than day cream, so they wear well throughout the night, and they also do not contain an SPF like some day creams, which is also why they are best worn overnight.

There are basically two main types of night creams: deep moisture, also called deep nourishing or ultra hydrating, and anti-aging.

Deep moisture overnight creams often contain thicker emollients, so they are more hydrating than day creams, which is just perfect for those with dry skin. Meanwhile, anti-aging overnight creams usually contain ingredients like glycolic acid, salicylic acid, or retinol, which help firm the skin and decrease wrinkles, fine lines, and age spots. They also increase cell turnover for more refreshed skin. However, products which contain retinol, glycolic acid, or salicylic acid can cause skin sensitivity, which is why they are best worn overnight as opposed to during the day.

For added moisture or repair while you sleep, apply a night cream each night to address your specific concerns.

So there you have it, the age-old secret to achieving glowing, flawless skin just perfect for your wedding day and many beautiful mornings to come. For best results, remember, when selecting your facial products, choose products that are specially formulated for your skin type and concerns, which will help ensure your products work best for you. You should also remember to begin with a makeup remover, and exfoliate at least twice a week, to enable your products to work more efficiently. Hopefully, these tips for achieving beautiful skin have left you excited about beginning a healthy skin care regimen, and it shows on your big day!
