Before you begin to shop for a gown it is important to know what your realistic price point is. Whether you’re paying for your gown or someone else is make sure that you know how much is too much. Not only do you need to know how much you can spend you need to know how much including alterations which can run upwards of $250.00. The last thing you want to do is go in thinking your budget is one thing to fall in love with a dress you can’t afford. And an argument with mom in the middle of the bridal salon isn’t exactly going to make for a fun experience either. Also remember that after you tell your consultant how much you can spend make sure she sticks to it. Don’t try on something $1000.00 over your budget just because they brought it to you, it’s okay to ask how much a gown is before you slip it on. And one more thing to remember; unless you are buying off the rack you will also be charged shipping, and no matter what you also have to pay tax. On a candy bar that’s nothing but on a wedding gown these can add hundreds of dollars. So if you find a dress you really love ask how much the total will be with EVERYTHING, just the price on the tag is not going to get you your dress.
