What do George Clooney and Wedding Favors have in common?

Sulmona!

SULMONA!
So the word is out that in the new George Clooney movie "The American" he hides out in a tiny Italian town called Sulmona. This town is very famous for its "confetti" which means sugar-covered almonds used to wish newlyweds the best on their wedding day.

It is said that the origins of these Sulmona confetti go back to the end of the 15th century when the Venetians brought them to this small Abruzzo town. Confetti is the traditional favor given out in almost ALL Italian weddings. However, Sulmona is world famous for its numerous shops and artisanal production of these almond flowers and favors. By using these you could mix traditional with fun ideas like using them for place settings, a candy buffet, etc.

I used these as little peony bouquets in the guest gift bags specially ordered from Sulmona for the most meaningful women at the wedding like our bridesmaids, mothers, and grandma.
