Today, exactly 8 days from the wedding I had my first spanner in the works.
It wasn't a wardrobe malfunction, or a catering error or even a misplaced wedding ring (phew!) but nevertheless it was an unexpected glitch in what all together has been smooth sailing when it comes to our wedding planning.
So I know you are wondering did I handle it with dignity and grace? scream the house down? chuck a tanti? I did none of those things but what I did have was a great big cry.
And it felt wonderful!
The last few days my fiance and I have had all the nervous, anticipatory emotions that come with planning such a huge party. Neither of us has been anxious about getting married but just all the little pieces of the puzzle actually falling into place to create our magic moment.
No-one would deny that organising a wedding take A LOT out of you. Emotionally, physically (which explains how you can drop a dress size in 2 days!) and mentally.
So how do I feel now...
I'll admit I am a little numb and slightly frazzled by things that are out of my control but I've also purged myself of a lot of tension by having a few tears.
In fact, the whole point of this blog is to let all your bride and grooms-to-be know that having a big fat cry may be just the thing to calm your nerves before the big day.
Bottling up feelings exasperates stress, which leads to pimples and over eating (in my case). I'm so glad I went the tears option and can now put my virgo-ness into overdrive to sort out a solution!
