Being on a budget doesn't have to mean sacrificing style at your wedding reception. Luckily, there are many unique and innovative ways you can beautifully decorate for your party without breaking the bank. Some of the best ideas that will still make your wedding stand out don’t have to cost a lot either. Just do a little DIY and planning, and you can make a wedding reception to remember.
DIY Flower Arrangements
Vases and arrangements from a florist can get expensive, so why not make them yourself? Spray paint large mason jars in your wedding colors and allow them to dry. Once the wedding gets closer, make your own floral arrangements using online pictures and videos to save hundreds on the cost of a florist. You can also use your own garden or wildflowers for a more unique bouquet that doesn’t come at a cost.
Floating Candles
Create a romantic feel throughout your reception by lighting floating candles in large oval vases. If your venue does not allow for lighted candles, then use battery operated candles instead. Some event centers like Noah’s Event Venues even offer ceiling décor packages with linens and lights so you don’t have to do all the work yourself. Use some cheap, colorful ribbon to hang your lanterns or jars.
Frame Relationship and Engagement Photos
Your wedding is one occasion where it's encouraged to display pictures of yourself all over the place. After buying a variety of different sizes and styles of frames, place your favorite engagement and relationship photos inside. Arrange these on tables with candles to create a personalized and romantic feel.
Hang Honeycomb Balls
Honeycomb balls are a super affordable DIY trick, and come in a wide variety of colors and sizes. You can make your own with tissue paper tied together. To make them really stand out, hang them from the ceiling so they drop down to create a vibrant and personalized look at your reception. Making these even better is the fact that you can use them at parties or even corporate meetings, so they won't go to waste after your special day.
DIY Glitter Wine Glasses
If you're not having a large wedding, you can make DIY wine glasses to brighten up the tables. To make these, simply paint a layer of Mod Podge over the outside of each glass before covering with any color of glitter. Once dry, seal with an additional layer of Mod Podge and allow to dry once again. This can also serve as a wedding favor, making it even more versatile for your wedding reception.
Decorating your wedding reception doesn't have to mean letting go of your style because of a tight budget. If you're willing to gather a few friends to do a few crafty projects, you could have your dream style of wedding without spending a lot. Ultimately it will be worth the work, especially when you walk into your reception and see how incredible the decorations look.
