Today there are so many ways to make your wedding invitations unique starting with the paper they’re printed on. You may not realize just how many different types of invitation papers there really are.
Here are descriptions of a few of them to give you just a taste of what’s available.
Textured papers cover a wide range of different designs. For instance, this beautiful design has an embossed floral design covering the entire invitation with texture. Embossing is the process of creating a raised design on the paper using a printing method that presses an image into the paper. This design is an example of blind embossing since no color is used to accentuate the embossed design area.
Transparent or translucent invitation paper means it’s somewhat see-through in appearance as pictured here. Sometimes a wedding invitation pocket is translucent so the invitation is slightly visible even after it’s inserted.
Parchment is a distinctive paper that is made to look like original parchment which has a cloudy appearance. Typically, this type of invitation has a deckle edge meaning it’s feathery and uneven.
Invitations that are printed on a shimmer paper stock have an elegant shine to them.
Ecru is actually a specific color of invitation paper. It’s a warm creamy biege. Other popular invitation paper colors include soft white and bright white.
You’ll probably encounter other types of paper used for wedding invitations since I’ve only covered a few of them here.
