The foundation of a good reception is, of course, the immediate and ongoing availability of alcohol. Without it, you will never get the quality of late-night candid pictures and videos that you will so cherish in later years. And, however bad all the other aspects of your reception turn out, alcohol has a way of softening any memories to the point that all anyone will remember about your reception is that it was really great.  At least until they log on to youtube. In any case, you should make your own clear list of priorities and then break down each major category into its finer points to ensure that you cover all the bases. Our priorities went like this:

#1: Alcohol

#2: Bartenders (enough to ensure no waiting for drinks)

#3: Backup plan to get more alcohol if needed during reception

#4: Good band to facilitate pleasant drinking environment

#5: Miscellaneous other stuff
