Latest DJ Breakthrough: The Matrix Touchscreen
Things HAVE changed for Wedding DJs in just the past few years!
Nowadays, virtually ANY song van be downloaded and played on the spot using a smartphone or wireless internet. I've had people at my events make offbeat requests for songs I don't typically carry. A Disc Jockey can't have EVERY song but there's no worse feeling than telling someone you don't have their request.
Once I was DJing a party at ritzy resort on the Newport Coast when the guest of honor requested "Monkey Man" by The Rolling Stones. Probably the first and last time I'll ever get THAT request. Since I don't normally carry that song in my repetoire, I quickly powered up my phone and paid .99 to download it from the Amazon MP3 Store. I plugged my phone into my mixer and a couple of minutes later, Mick Jagger's voice began snarling out of my speakers. Technological magic like this would have been inconceivable just a few years ago.
The advent of DJ computer software has made it possible for just about anyone to become a DJ. The market now seems flooded with bargain priced computer DJs. But you still need to know how to read a crowd, what to play when and most importantly, event experience. Especially when it comes to weddings. On the plus side, accessing songs from large music libraries and mixing have become easier.
The latest DJ breakthrough is the Touchscreen Mixer. This futuristic device takes DJing to the next level, making the DJ's song selection, mixing and special effects visible on a huge, transparent, touch sensitive screen. Think of it as having an eye in the sky while watching a great chef create a wonderful meal. This colorful screen, with over 130 knobs, faders and buttons, often has onlookers awestruck. World class DJs such as DeadMouse, Jay Frog, Marc Romboy and Infected Mushroom have used the Touchscreen in their live shows. Unheard of a couple of years ago, this same Touchscreen is now available for weddings and private parties.
Here's to the future!
