While you can’t go wrong having a nice big cake on your wedding day, sometimes it’s fun to mix things up a bit and try something a little different. Here are some delicious alternatives.
If you’re more a fan of savory flavors and you know your guests will be too, then a cake made of cheese will go down as a hit on your wedding day. Pick a variety of different types to suit all tastes and serve with lots of crackers
A fun sweet alternative, stacks of doughnuts always look great and are super easy for everyone to eat too. Mix it up and get a few different flavors and stack them up neatly - how you style them is entirely up to you.
A chic alternative to a big cake is lots of lovely mini desserts. They look great presented in mass or as part of a dessert table and give you the opportunity to provide different options for your guests.
Do as the French do and trade in the traditional wedding cake for a rather fancy croquembouche. A cone formed of delicious cream filled profiteroles, it’s a lovely spectacle to have out on display.
Sometimes you just can’t beat the gooey richness of delicious brownies. A firm favorite with any chocolate obsessives out there, this is guaranteed to go down a treat with your guests.
A summery favorite and often the choice for dessert at many a wedding, why not just go all out and make the wedding cake one big pavlova!
7. Pic and Mix bar
An oldie but a goodie, pic and mix will always go down a treat after dinner with your guests. It’s also perfect for when they get the munchies later too!
Give your guests lots of choice and set up a beautiful sugary grazing table - both tasty to eat and lovely to look at. This may feature cake (so you’ll have something to cut!) alongside biscuits, doughnuts and sweets.
If you’re more of a dessert person, then a multi-tiered cheesecake cake will suit you perfectly. It’ll function much like an actual cake so you can cut it for photos, but it’s something just that little bit different
.
10. Cookies
For the biscuit fiends among you, a cake made of biscuits or an entire wall of biscuits will be very hard to resist. A fun and unique alternative to a wedding cake, it’ll make for a slightly longer lasting ‘cake’ too.
