Unconventional Newlywed Gifts You Never Knew You Needed

When it comes to wedding gifts, cash is still a welcome present, but times have certainly changed. Today, the bride and groom-to-be are usually both fully involved when it comes to registering as a couple. Research shows a majority of couples have already been living together by the time they tie the knot. So when they create the ultimate gift list, couples often choose together and will use these gifts together. Since many households are already established before these unions, some couples are bored with the idea of traditional gifts like china sets or blenders. If you are thinking of going off the beaten path for your friends, check out our Unconventional Newlywed Gifts You Never Knew You Needed:

Matching Dutch Bicycles

For the couple that likes to explore outdoors, a pair of matching Dutch bicycles is a wonderful gift for the new Mr. and Mrs. It doesn't matter if you're in the 'burbs or on back country roads, Dutch bikes are a relaxing mode of transportation. These bikes are sturdy, reliable, and perfect for night or day, rain or shine, and don't require special clothing or footwear. Just get on and go!

Home Security System

Maintaining a safe and cozy home without having to worry about break ins leads us to the home security system wedding gift. It's a brilliant concept growing in popularity. Imagine being away on your honeymoon and worrying about whether your property is lock-safe against perpetrators. We live in a different world today, and this high-tech solution can keep an eye on your home night and day with features like ADT backup battery during power loss, etc.

Memberships

Those couples who appreciate art and all it has to offer culturally would certainly enjoy using two art museum memberships. Wherever you reside, there are museums in large cities nearby that provide plenty for a newlywed couple to explore. It doesn’t have to be art either, maybe you can get them a local grocery store membership for savings on their first year of food together. It’s practical, functional, and a great gift of getting rid of common burdens. Most yearlong museum memberships include unlimited free admission, private exhibition previews, and daily viewing hours. By signing up, you and your better half become key supporters of amazing exhibitions and education programs that bring the art museum's mission to life.

The large crock-pot, toaster, and waffle iron are still common kitchen products that serve a good purpose, but today's Mr. Mrs. are going for unconventional newlywed gifts that really think outside the registry box, and focus on a more personal spin. The sky's the limit, and every couple is unique with gift ideas that go beyond the basics.

Awesome--thanks for these! I especially like the idea of getting each other memberships. Be it to new art museums, grocery store memberships, what have you! Because this allows you to have a shared experience together, and it's the gift that keeps on giving. Thanks for these great ideas :)
