Too Many Wedding To-Do's: Location, Location, Location!

In this mini-series called “Too Many Wedding To-Do’s”, I will outline a bit about each step in the Wedding To-Do List.

Step #4: Reserve the locations for your wedding and reception.

There’s a very good reason this one falls under the “12 or more months before” category of the wedding to-do list.  Wedding and reception venues book up fast!  Especially for Saturdays.  If you have a dream venue, you better get moving (hence why it’s a good idea to narrow down your ideal setting, season, and date as early as possible).

Another reason why this is important is IF you run into the unfortunate circumstance where you can’t get your desired venue on your desired date, by looking more than a year ahead, you are ensuring that you have lots of options still available.

If you have no particular venue already in mind, a great website to search for potentials is EventSource.ca.  You can narrow down the options by event type, venue type, event size, and region – which is great!  Most venues that are featured also include a “virtual tour” option so that you can get a feel for the place before you reach out to book a visit.

A good wedding planner will also have a list of venues that they can recommend based on what you’re looking for.

The morale of the story is that if you’ve just got a ring on your finger, start looking for your venue and get that magical place that will set the tone for the rest of your Big Day!
