A wedding is a sacred ceremony for most people as it represents the culmination of their love. However, in order to get married, an average couple has to spend around $30,000 (in the US). This is an absurd amount of money which should be spent on a house or something more important. Now, ladies don’t get me wrong, wedding is very important for you, but there is a way you can have your special day in your home, and save a lot of money. Here are a few tips to help you organize and stay within a budget.
Instead of spending thousands of dollars on that stressful planning, try doing it spontaneously. Simply say “Let’s get married” and just do it. Call all your friends and relatives, let them know you are creating a house wedding and tell them the date. That is all, the wedding is on. All you have to do is book a church (in case you want to get married in one), and pay the fees while filling in the forms for a wedding. That is all of the “advanced” planning you will have to do. No money spent, no stress gained.
If you are trying to throw an affordable wedding, then ordering expensive catering is definitely not an option. Not only is it ridiculously expensive, but it won’t fit the style. Instead, contact a small local pastry shop or one of those places where they make their own cakes and food, and ask them if they would be your caterer. There is a high probability that someone will say yes, and voila, you got yourself a cheap caterer and the food is still delicious.
Since you’ve taken care of the food, the next on the list are drinks. Having different drinks around is always a good idea. You need a way to keep them cold; if there will be a lot of people attending, consider hiring a mobile coolroom online. This is a pretty inexpensive way to replace ice and ensure your drinks stay cold, plus it is very mobile, so you can move it around as you please. Keep the champagne on ice and let your guests enjoy every moment of your special day.
As a groom, you have a job to ensure that your other half enjoys every bit of this day. That is why you should help her with the decorations prior to the wedding. By doing it yourself, you both save the money which you would otherwise spend on paying someone else to do it. Place Chinese lanterns here and there to create the mood. Flowers could be too expensive, so minimize the cost by getting only those that you actually need. If you have a friend playing in a band, make sure you “hire” them to play at your after-party at home.
Last but not least – make sure you enjoy every bit of it. It is your special day, so remember to be happy and don’t think about the money or anything else. The moment is yours; seize it and live it.
