As a wedding/social occasion boutique owner, I can't emphasize more that you need to think ahead for your wedding. Be realistic .. and not be the "Bridezilla" in what you want to wear..mom's too!! Prepare your budget ahead of time, color scheme..some colors are not going to be available..so you will "need to come out of the box" and be flexible.

Many stores are now limiting their Inventory..it's just the way it is right now! The economy has effected all of us. Be prepared to "SPECIAL ORDERED" your wedding dress and Mother of the Bride/Groom dress and pay a deposit at the time of your order. That means each dress you order will require a deposit, even if you want to see how it is going to fit, and the companies will charge a re-stocking fee if the dress is returned. Your store that you are dealing with is not going to "front" the cost. They will give you the best advice they can..you will have to listen and work with them and be considerate of their time!

Be considerate of what they do have in stock when trying on the garments. They are not selling samples but actual inventory. If your size is not available it can take up to 14 weeks for your dress to arrive. It is made for you , so it will be yours to keep.

Thank you!!!!! I deal with this every day...Some customers have the misconception anyone that has a Business for themselves have a lot of money..well..think again!!!!! With credit being tightened by Banks this makes it harder for us to add to our inventory..and we are not a big warehouse..but a boutique that offers a speciality which is different than any other business.

You're right, it's taugh to work with brides.I used to manage a bridal gowns shop and the brides usually had come to the store with specific needs, like "I want my dress to be white" They didn't event want to look to an ivory gown........and most of the time they had tried an ivory gown just because their mother or myself insisted to try it on. And SURPRISE !!!!....a lot of brides felt in love with a dress that they didn't want to try it at the beginning. So the patience is the key for the bridal consultant and flexibility is for the brides: you may never know........ !

This is why I politely suggest to my Brides and Mothers of the Brides/Groom looking for dresses. I often recieve calls asking if I have certain styles and sizes in stock and they act shocked when I tell them I don't and to come into the store. They don't understand we do not have everything on the rack. They do have to be flexible and when they are they often fall in love with a gown or a dress for the MOM's they didn't consider
