Switzerland is most beautiful and underrated country in Europe and is all about sublime experiences. This land of four languages has most diverse attractions, landscapes, museums and delicious food. The major cities here are vibrant and cosmopolitan with excellent transportation and scenery which takes away breath. One of such city of this country is Zurich. Zurich is culturally vibrant and beautiful city set astride a river and crystal clear lake. Known as hard-working and savvy financial center, this city is wealthiest and largest metropolis, and has emerged as central Europe’s hippest destinations. When visiting Zurich, there are few things to remember. Noting too serious – these are few local tips to make your experience super good:

Largest city of Zurich

It is biggest Swiss city but is world’s smallest metropolis. With 1.3 billion people in canton and barely 400,000 inhabitants, it is urban hub of Switzerland. It can be easily explored on foot, or you can take tram, train, boat and bus going up into the hills or along the lake.

Diverse city with four languages

Despite being largest city of Switzerland, only two thirds of residents are Swiss citizens. Italians and Germans make up the largest population groups here, this is why the city has four main languages: English, Italian, German and French.

Zurich was accidentally bombed twice.

In 1944, USAAF was targeting Ludwigshafen am Rhein (Germany) with bomb but instead targeted Schaffhausen. This causes considerable distress because Switzerland was neutral country during WWII. It cited that reason behind this was navigation errors and weather conditions. The city was compensated four million dollars for damages. Only one year later again, USAAF bombed Zurich thinking that they were targeting Aschaffenburg, Germany.

Museum dedicated to nothing

Zurich has ‘No Show Museum’ with purpose of showing how ‘nothing’ has expressed through art. There is range of artwork attempts to highlight or show the idea of minimalism. Here artifacts include blank canvases, empty rooms, sculptures made of invisible materials and musical compositions with long silence.  Though this concept may not be easy to wrap your mind, so make your Easy jet airlines tickets and reservations and do visit this intriguing museum.

Proud owner of largest clock face in Europe

Located in heart of Old Town, the medieval watchtower was built for local fire brigade. For centuries, this marvelous façade is serving as standard for local Zurich time. It has diameter of 8.64 meters and its dials hold record for Europe’s largest public timepieces.

Host of largest techno street party in Europe

A city with people who are stereotyped as rule-followers, Zurich hosts major event that denies this perception completely. In August, billions of people dressed wildly and show up in the streets to party at Street Parade. In a celebration of electronic music and thumping beats, this party will blow your mind.
