4) Hope your ready to take out a second mortgage to pay for your DJ!

Many people believe you have to break the bank for quality DJ entertainment and it’s just not true! No matter what size DJ package you go with you should receive the same quality of service. You pay more for more equipment not better service! The amount of money you spend should be dependent on the size of your party and venue combined with your predetermined budget. You can choose as many or as little options as you would like and should never feel pressured by the most expensive, featured package a DJ company displays. A quality DJ Company offers an array of options and features to meet all size parties/budgets.

3) My guests are too old/young to really get anything out of a DJ company.

The benefits that come from getting a DJ for children and elderly are actually greater than for everyone else. Wouldn’t you agree that children under 8 and senior citizens over 65 are more difficult to entertain? Wouldn’t you say that would qualify for the services of a professional, in say entertaining? An experienced DJ also understands the importance of MCing. They will pay special attention to small children and the elderly that may need a little something extra to get them going (no we don’t offer drugs lol) like a few specially selected songs from their generation along with dance references to match. No longer will you have the little ones running around aimlessly and grandpa just sitting in the corner by the window.

2) You either choose a Band OR a DJ, right?

There’s a big misconception that hiring a live band, which can give a nice classy feel, means there’s no reason for a DJ. You can choose both and there’s good reason to, should you be able to fit it in your budget. You have to remember that live bands usually are only responsible for playing music and in most cases just during cocktail hour and dinner. Remember they can only play the requests you make that they know how to play. There are many great advantages you get with also having a DJ, which I will further explain in the next myth.

1) DJ’s just play music!

This is the #1 myth and it couldn’t be farther from the truth. While music playing is part of what a DJ does, there are many other beneficial features you get when hiring a DJ…

  • A specially selected playlist for your event (with as much input from you as you choose). Notice how the songs compliment your event!
  • They will announce your custom “Grand Entrance”, Greet your guests & announces the party starting/ending, Introduce guest(s) of honor (birthday person or party thrower), Announce transitions between activities, etc.
  • They will engage guests regularly, avoiding simply having music playing in the background. The interaction keeps guests from ever having a dull moment!
  • They will coordinate with the client during the event to know special requests, timing of activities/transitions, things not wanted, and issues that may occur during the events. They will also coordinate with the videographer/photographer to ensure you capture perfect moments! The DJ will coordinate with the other vendors as well so everyone stays on the same page and our services are symbiotic.
  • Lastly they will exude their fun, positive personality to all of your guests creating a light, upbeat energy throughout the event!

While these myths are certainly not true with #AVx, they may be for a select few DJ companies out there that first caused these myths to come about. Choose wisely when deciding on any vendor by doing your research and speaking with them personally. Find out why people choose and trust #AVx!
