Now that it's summer, many of you are dying to get a tan! I know I am! So how's a girl going to look her best without damaging her skin? Here are five great tips to get that golden glow without the skin cancer scare.
1. Use Sun Block
You can get a tan from sunlight shining through your office window or the window of your car. Since sunlight damages skin cells, your body's natural reaction is to create melanin which is a defense mechanism. For the simplest fix, choose a moisturizer with SPF.
2. Artificial Tan
There are many ways to darken your skin or give the appearance of darker skin without damaging it. If you're not looking to go much darker, you can always make do with a little bronzer. Dusting it over your forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin highlight the angles in your face and give you a leaner look. There are several lotions that gradually darken your skin without the sun damage. We recommend gradually deepening your skin color. Not only does it look more natural, but there's less risk of overdoing it. There is also the spray on tan, but we think it's best left to professionals.
3. Moisturize
If you live in a dry environment like California, make sure that you moisturize daily, even if you have oily skin. Drying out your skin will make your overproduce oil to compensate. While moisturizer won't help with your tan, it will make your skin look so much better!
4. Eat Right
Stimulate collagen growth by eating lots of antioxidant-rich foods such as leafy green veggies and blueberries.
5. Exfoliate
Old skin looks tired and dull. Regular facial scrubs also promote cell renewal for healthier, plumper looking skin. Remember to moisturize after scrubs to keep the new skin nice and refreshed.
