Summer time is here! Flowers are in bloom and the choices seem endless. As a bride, where do you start when it comes to bouquets and decor? Here are some of our favorite picks this season:
#1 Hydrangea
Hydrangea – originating in the Americas and Asia – are a great summer flower. They are big and voluminous, and can provide large bouquets on a smaller budget. Color options are endless with these flowers: though white is the most common color, hydrangeas can be found in pinks, blues, purples, and reds. Hydrangea is also a great “filler” flower. Add oomph to your bouquet or centerpiece with hydrangea, and mix in an assortment of other flowers to add variety.
#2 Calla Lilies
Calla Lilies are a sleek flower – a great fit for a modern affair. These flowers bloom most frequently in Southern Africa, and come in whites and warm tones, including reds, oranges, yellows, and pinks. Calla Lilies work beautifully as a bouquet, and can also be stylized into tall and elegant centerpieces.
#3 Chrysanthemums
Chrysanthemums, also known as “mums” or “chrysanths,” come from Asia and North Eastern Europe, while the name comes from Greece: the Greek words, chrysos (gold) and anthemon (flower). There are over 30 varieties of Chrysanthemums, making your color options endless. These florals are great for bright color schemes – as they often are available in bright yellows, oranges, and hot pinks.
#4 Orchids
Orchids are luxurious, known for their gorgeous colors and unique shapes. Though they are on the pricier side, different types of orchids cater to different price ranges – with dendrobium andmokaras orchids as the least expensive options and phalaenopsis and cymbidium orchids as the most expensive options. These flowers come in a variety of colors as well, allowing you to find the perfect match for your wedding’s theme and color scheme. We especially love the bright green and pink varieties below:
