This past weekend, we were all over the city! We had beautiful weather and were fortunate enough to be able to enjoy some glorious New York City sunshine as a family. BUT–I can also tell you this: it was HOT! It’s that time of year whenever my husband is fighting for shade at the park and I am running around trying to find the sunshine so that I can get my tan on (Of course after applying large amounts of sunscreen first!), but the sweat is still there and it ain’t pretty!
So what is a Mama to do in order to look hot and stay cool in the concrete jungle? Surprisingly, there are many different summer clothing options that we have featured in our summer fashion guide to give you a little help in this area!
1. Every Mama needs a great cotton, breathable dress! If you are anything like me, you wear a seamless cami underneath your clothes on a daily basis to help smooth your tummy out, but it gets hot! Wearing dresses like this Tart Delphine modal-blend jersey maxi dress make it so much easier to be both comfortable and cute in the shining sun.
2. Pretty much the only downfall of a romper is that you have to pull it all the way down to pee…but these are flattering on most every body type because of where they hit you and because they are one piece, and they are MUCH cooler than the alternative of wearing two pieces instead of only one! Try this Splendid Short Romper for a relaxed silhouette that can easily be embellished with a statement necklace for an afternoon or night out!
3. Cotton shorts are essential for making it through the summer with a smile on your face, but they get so BORING and dreadful whenever they look like old lady shorts! (Not something that will EVER be featured in a Project Motherhood Summer Fashion Guide!). These Tooshie black cotton shorts are breathable, but SO CUTE because they have patterns cut out! Perfection!
4.I think that we can ALL AGREE that if you are trying to walk in heels around NYC streets, you are going to be sweating even in the middle of winter! It’s hard work to keep balanced while holding your child’s hand! So summertime is all about the cute, embellished flip flops and these Tory Burch Jelly Flip Flops are my winners!
5. A lightweight tank is the last piece to this summer fashion guide puzzle. If it’s lightweight and a little bit on the looser side, it’s not going to cling to you! And–in the chance that you do sweat, it’s a very fast drying option. I’m currently crushing on this FAB option from Free People!
