Grooms, cherish your groomsmen. They’ve been backing you up since your wild, younger days, and they will be right beside you on your wedding day. Your memories with them are precious since you may no longer have that much time to hang out with them anymore, what with family life and all.

That said, you may want to commemorate those good times with a group photo. But wedding photo ops don’t always have to be serious. In fact, they should be fun yet not forced, memorable but not too. It is a joyous occasion, after all, and there’s no reason not to add a bit of excitement to your pictures.

If you’re looking for some ideas on how you can spice up your groomsmen photos, here are some examples.

Pull Down Your Pants

Yes, a bit of inappropriateness will be perfect for a group picture. Bonus points if you’re wearing brightly colored underwear. Just make sure the other guys do it too. Otherwise, you’d be the butt of the joke (pun intended, pants excluded).

You could pose as if you’re peeing or are in the process of doing so and you’ve just been caught unaware, giving the picture a candid quality. You may want to do it somewhere private, though. Some unfortunate stranger may chance upon you, and things could get awkward.

Turn into a Cartoon

You know what’s more fun than a photo? Turning yourself into a cartoon! Not literally, of course. Several design services can draw up a fun image of you and your groomsmen. Usually, you have creative control over what the finished product will look like.

For example, with Groovy Groomsmen Gifts’ hand-drawn group caricatures, you can select your background, theme, and certain details like if a groomsman will appear with a prop and what that object will be.

Since all you’ll be doing is just to submit individual pictures and let an artist do the rest, this option can be a convenient alternative if not every one of your fellows can make it to a photo shoot.

Pretend to Be the Bridesmaids

Ridicule can be fun, especially if self-inflicted and done in good humor. One of the funniest groomsmen photo ideas is to mimic how a woman announces her engagement to her lady friends and how said friends react. It’s a classic.

This is particularly fun if your friends are big, burly men with chests full o’ hair. It may be difficult, but if you can convince them, you’ll have a physical reminder of how you threw away your shame for a picture. Later in the future, when you come together for a few beers again, you’ll reminisce fondly of how effeminate you guys were and have a good chuckle about it.

Include the Kids

If you or someone in the group is a parent, get your kids in the photo op.

A young one in the pic will automatically increase its cuteness factor, especially when they try to pose like the adults. You can also have them do silly stuff that only a child can get away with without feeling ashamed.

Even better, everyone should keep a straight face while the kid’s shenanigans get captured on camera.

Pose Like a Boy Band

You ever saw those cheesy album covers that boy bands used to have? Do those still exist?

Pretending to be a boy band can add a different pizzazz to your picture—specifically the kind that’s hot. You’ll also be doing a favor to your bachelor buddies; posing like a dreamy celebrity can gain them a few secret admirers.

And, hey, they might even be noticed by a talent scout and become the next big thing!

Finale

Now that you have a few ideas, try discussing these with your groomsmen. They may have a couple of suggestions in mind to keep it fun.

Remember that this should be a group activity, so everyone has to commit to it without any reservation. If even one really doesn’t want to expose their buttocks, then don’t force them. You could try a more wholesome way of spicing up your photo op—like that last idea concerning boy bands. Don't forget to check for groomsmen gift ideas to thank your pals with later on.
