Special Items You Can Include When You Order Wedding Invitations

When it comes to wedding invitations, you probably know there are other items that you may need to purchase to send with them such as reception and response cards. What you may not be familiar with are the specialty items that can be purchased at the same time even if they are not directly related to your invites. In some cases the items may even be available to match your specific invitation design.

Here is a listing of those items along with an explanation of their purpose:

  • Map Cards – A great convenience to your out-of-town guests, inserting these cards with your wedding invitations will give them specific directions to your ceremony and/or reception location.
  • Accommodation Cards – For any guests who will be travelling a distance to your wedding and may need overnight accommodations, this card will provide information for any hotels you have contacted for possible guest reservations.
  • Envelope Seals – These decorative self-adhesive pieces can add the finishing touch to your mailing envelopes by giving the illusion that they are sealing the back envelope flap even though it has already been secured.  Usually they have to be purchased separately but are typically included with self-mailer and seal ‘n send wedding invitations since they do actually seal those styles for mailing.
  • Name Tabs – Most commonly associated with pocket wedding invitations, these ornate printed labels show the couples' names and are used to seal the pocket wrap.
  • Envelope Icing – To add pizzazz on the outside, this charming label wraps around one side of your envelope from front to back.  The front has room for handwriting your guest’s mailing address with the back showing your initials or maybe even an entire return address.
  • Place Cards – These personalized cards will let each wedding guest know which seat has been specially reserved for them.
  • Table Cards – Placed to easily identify and guide guests to their reserved table.
  • Menu Cards – Positioned at each place setting, they add an elegant finishing touch to your wedding reception tables. They also give your guests a preview of the menu for the evening.
  • Napkins - Typically your wedding stationery printer will also have paper napkins available for personalizing with your names and wedding date to add a very personal touch to your celebration. Often times a design or monogram can also be imprinted on them to match your theme.

Custom wedding stamps are another popular option for couples and have become trendy for mailing wedding invitations.  Although personalized stamps are normally purchased separately, they are a great way to add a special touch to the outside of your invitations.  Be sure to know ahead of time via the Post Office how much postage each ready-to-mail invitation will require so you order your postage stamps in the correct amount.

Obviously not all of the above items are necessary but it’s good to know exactly what is available to you depending on your wedding style and budget.  Anytime you can save time and money, especially in wedding planning, make the most of it. Many times the items listed here can be purchased from the same printer when you order wedding invitations so why not accomplish as much as you can at one time and save on separate shipping costs.
