Jewelry is about more than just accessorizing an outfit; it’s about expressing yourself through beautiful creations and sometimes true works of art. Being avid jewelry fans (it is our trade!), we were excited to have recently visited the Van Cleef & Arpels “Set in Style” exhibition at Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum in New York City. What we saw there truly inspired us; beauty and innovation, all centered on one of our favorite thing- jewels!
Walska Brooch/Pendant. A multi-functional piece, the wings come off to form earrings and the tail detaches to form a brooch, the pendant can be worn separately.
Grace Kelly Engagement collection (earrings). Grace Kelly got an abundance of jewels when Prince Rainier III of Monaco asked for her hand in marriage. A friendship ring made with a band of diamonds and rubies, a 12-carat emerald cut diamond engagement ring and of course, the famous engagement set (ring, earrings, necklace and bracelet) by Van Cleef & Aprels. The beautiful diamond and pearl set matched perfectly with Kelly’s sophisticated style.
Kikumakia Butterfly Brooch. This butterfly combines a vintage look with Japanese lacquering techniques.
Zip Necklace with Extension. Part necklace, part bracelet, this piece features an intricate zipper design that allows for easy transition between the two must-have accessories.
From beautiful broaches, to unique necklaces and amazing estate pieces, the “Set in Style” offers a glimpse into some of the most beautiful jewelry in the world.
