We were at a wedding this past weekend and, in this case, the bride and groom used herb seed packets as their wedding escort cards. They attached the names and table numbers to the packets using stickers and they doubled as one of the wedding favors the guests got to take home. They also matched up the floral table centerpieces to the escort cards. They filled small aluminum pails with herb and rose plants in a very pretty, artful way. These were also given away to one of the guests at each table.
These were great ideas for "usable", or perhaps reusable, escort cards and centerpieces. Great idea for an eco-friendly or green wedding.
The above, "fairy-look" was used at a bat mitzvah. Of course, the look can be changed up depending on the graphics of the seed packs that you use.
I most like the idea of using the seed packets that come with the seeds because it is very eco-friendly. However, Kodak (see this link: http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=12958&pq-l...) has a fun DIY idea with these. Print your favorite picture onto one of their templates to create personalized seed favor packaging! Then, all you need to do is cut and glue. Pretty neat idea. See below:
