You can have the dress of your dreams, arrive in a stretch hummer decked out in Beyonce bling, have a massive entourage of a bridal party, seven bridesmaid, two page boys , three flowergirls, one junior bridesmaid and two well-dressed poodles.
In fact, you could have them all dress in Vera Wang if you wanted! Smash Royal Doulton plates in your plate ceremony, have bonbonniere from Tiffany’s! You can try and fly Delta Goodrem in on a helicopter to sing “Born to Try” as you walk down the diamante studded red-carpet.
You can have the decadent, over the top, most outrageous wedding that you have ever dreamed off… so long as you don’t have it on a Saturday.
Doing some quick maths you can save anywhere between 10 to 20% of your total wedding costs just by choosing another day of the week to wed. If the average wedding comes in at between $30- $50,000 that’s a $3,000 - $10,000 saving.
So why do you save?
Restaurants and Venues aren’t as busy, so don’t charge as much for weekday or Sunday wedding. In fact, you may be amazed at how flexible and accommodating these places can be if you switch from a Saturday.
It’s likely you be able to secure the celebrant you want – rather than fighting for their time and 1,000 other brides who want to book. Celebrants are in demand on weekends... During the week is spent doing paperwork and preparation.
Wedding Cars, florists, bakeries, and any wedding industry professional are flat out on a Saturday with one, two or sometimes three weddings! It's the basics of supply and demand.
However, if you approach a vendor or retailer about mid-week things are slower, there are less bookings, and you'd most likely find they are more willing to work to your budget.
And, it has other advantages too. Choosing a work day cut down on a lot of your invites. So feel free to invite your annoying, rude, grumpy, workaholic Aunt from Canberra – chances are she won’t be able to take the time off work to attend a mid-week wedding.
So, if the only thing stopping you from going all out is the price? Maybe steer clear of Saturdays and Public Holidays. Plus your guests will thank you for the day off work!
