Typically the parents of the groom are the least involved people in the wedding party. However, that doesn't mean they don’t have responsibilities. Below there are a few duties they are typically in charge of.
Groom’s Mother
- Try to coordinate your outfit with the bride’s color scheme. Traditionally the mother of the bride should contact you to let you know about the wedding scheme.
- Typically most of the planning is handled by the bride and her family. However, offer to help and if the bride request helps try your best to oblige.
- Dance with your son for the Mother-Son dance.
Groom’s Father
- Review what the father of the bride is paying for.
- Dance with the bride.
- Assist with a groom’s cake if there will be one
Both
- Cover the cost of corsages and boutonnieres for immediate members of both families
- Cover the lodging of the groom's attendants if the couple requests it.
- Organize and pay the costs of the rehearsal dinner.
- To assist the bride’s family in the cost of the main event, the alcohol is an expense the Groom’s parents often will take on.
