Choosing a reception venue for your wedding is an important decision. It can involve quite a bit of leg work, a smattering of persuasion and up to half of your overall wedding budget. When selecting a place to hold your wedding reception, you want to pay attention to a few key elements as these will determine the final success of the day. Besides the obvious questions that you will be asking your reception coordinator, here a few that you may not have thought about asking, yet every answer will add to the comfort and success of the day.
1. How far is my reception venue from the ceremony venue?
2. Does it have separate spaces for the cocktail hour, the dinner and the dance?
3. Does it have seating areas for the cocktail and dance areas?
4. Where are the bars located? Are they portable? If not, do they have extra areas to set up portable bars and serving spaces?
5. Is there a dressing / changing room available for the bride?
6. What type of heating/air conditioning/ventilation system do they have? 7. What type of floral arrangements/decorations are in the greeting area? How about the main room? Are they removable / movable?
8. Does the venue have any centerpieces that are included in the room rental? Do they have any additional rental items available to you?
9. Don’t leave without a floor plan of your reception area.
10. Don’t leave without a contract to read over.
