Ready to Register? Essentials That Every Couple Should Include on Their Wedding Registry

Getting married is a very exciting time for a couple, but it can also be a confusing time. Blending two lives requires getting rid of some things while bringing in others. It also requires compromise as you figure out how to blend your personal tastes into your style as a couple. One of the first challenges with this that you might face is the wedding registry. Figuring out what to put on your wedding registry can be difficult, and many don’t know where to start. Consider these essentials that every couple should include on their wedding registry.

Cheese and Charcuterie Boards

Cheese and charcuterie boards are a great addition to the registry because they’re so versatile and useful, especially if you like to entertain. For parties, you can pile it with meats, cheeses, and veggies. You can also layer on fruits, nuts, and crackers. This allows people to quickly and easily select what they want.

You can use these boards as an alternative to cooking a full meal for you and your new spouse every night. For evenings where you want a light meal, serve up a few of your favorites on a charcuterie board and enjoy a movie together.

Patterned Dinnerware

You and your new spouse might each have your own dishes, or one or both of you might have been using paper and plastic dishes and cutlery. Either way, chances are that you don't have anything that matches. Your wedding registry is a chance to get a set of patterned dinnerware so that you have a beautiful matched set. This is especially useful if you enjoy entertaining or if you expect to be hosting the in-laws for holidays. Even if you're not a couple who entertains, a nice set of matching dishes can elevate a weeknight meal with your spouse and help you feel more connected.

Bath Towel Sets

Like dishes, you and your spouse should already have bath towels, but this is a chance to get fully matched sets. Your registry should include bath towels (or bath sheets, if you prefer the extra-large option), hand towels, and washcloths. If you want to get really fancy, you could get a set that includes fingertip towels as well. Ideally, you should ask for enough sets to ensure both you and your spouse have at least two towels and that you have some extra sets for guests.

Robes

After the hustle and stress of wedding planning, your honeymoon is going to be a welcome time of relaxation. Extend that relaxation after you come home by putting cozy robes on your wedding registry. You can ask for plush, warm robes for chilly weather or lighter cotton or silk ones for warmer times. Or ask for both. It is your wedding registry, after all.

Knowing what to put on your wedding registry can be difficult, especially if you and your spouse have already had your own homes. When you think you already have all you need, think beyond that. Maybe it's time to get rid of what you have and get all new together as a couple. Or maybe it's time to get creative and ask for things that make life as a married couple more fun.
