Get more ZZZs!

Let's face it, we could all use more sleep.  A great reason to get more is luminous skin!

Lack of sleep means dull, pasty-looking skin. Your body renews itself during sleep, producing human growth hormones (HGH) important for collagen production to keep skin young and firm.

Long-term effects of sleep deficiency include deep lines, wrinkles, and dark, under-eye circles.  Sleep relaxes the facial muscles, helping to smooth lines and wrinkles. And, being horizontal has anti-gravity (yes, we said anti-gravity) benefits that reduce the downward pull on your face.  Lack of sleep has also been found to cause bodily stress, resulting in the increased production of the hormone cortisol that has been linked to skin problems like eczema and acne.

How can I get more sleep you ask?  Here are some suggestions:

1) Let's Get Physical!

However you decide to do this, we won't ask for any details. Exercise 3-4 times per week and sleep should come more easily.

2) Set the Mood

The mood for sleep that is.  Set a comfortable room temperature and keep it dark and quiet. Avoid watching television, reading or doing any activities in bed that are not relaxing and sleep-inducing.

3) Avoid Temptation

This one may be more difficult for some...say "NO" to that late night cup of coffee or alcohol.  These stimulants are sleep inhibitors and disrupt sleep rhythm.

So, let’s fight the signs of aging with sleep!  Are you getting your 6 to 10 hours each night?  If not, we can give you some tips on how to fake it and, at least, look well-rested.  Just let us know.
