There are many natural elements available to use as decor for fall and winter weddings. Pine cones are inexpensive, readily available, and very versatile for a variety of creative DIY wedding decorations.

You can buy pine cones at any craft store, especially during the holiday season. It’s even more inexpensive if you can find your own pine cones. If you don’t have a pine tree in your back yard, then visit a local city park, anywhere that has pine trees. You should easily be able to find pine cones in a variety of shapes and sizes. Let the pine cones dry out for at least a couple of days before you use them.

Pine Cone Centerpieces

There are a number of centerpieces that can be created from pine cones. For a miniature pine cone-covered tree, fill a tall vase with pinecones and small ornaments that match the wedding decor. Place a small tree branch or twig into the vase and hang pinecones from the branches.

Fill bowls of a variety of shapes and sizes with pine cones mixed with small ornaments and other holiday decorations. Pine cones can be spray painted to match any color scheme. For silver or gold pine cones, there are metallic spray paints available that can be used to paint them any color you want.

To add glitter to pine cones, use a paint brush to paint Modge Podge or other decoupage medium onto dry pine cone and then sprinkle glitter on the pine cone. Add another coating of decoupage to seal the glitter.

Create small pine cone trees with a styrofoam cone. Cover the styrofoam cone with brown construction paper, and then use a hot glue gun to glue pine cones all over the tree form. Place larger pine cones at the bottom and smaller pine cones towards the top. Fill in any gaps with small pine cones or berries.

Pine Cone Wreaths and Garlands

Add pine cones to grape vine wreaths for a rustic look. For example, for a white and silver winter wedding theme, you could spray paint a grape vine wreath silver and add white or silver pine cones as accents.

You could also add painted or natural looking pine cones to evergreen wreaths. Use hot glue to add berries and nuts for a more natural look.

A pine cone wreath can be created by hot gluing pine cones in a variety of shapes and sizes on a foam wreath form. Add nuts and berries for added decoration, and a pretty bow.

Pine cones can be used to create beautiful garlands. Use ribbons to hang pine cones from evergreen branches, and string the branches together to hang.

Pine Cone Table Decorations

Use pine cones for place card holders. Place a pine cone at each place setting and set a place card in the top of each pine cone.

Pine cones can be combined with bits of greenery and small ornaments in large hurricane candle holders with a pillar candle in the center. Spray paint the pine cones to match the wedding colors.

Extra large pine cones can be hot glued into small terra cotta pots. Terra cotta pots can be painted any color. Create pots in a variety of heights. Pots can be displayed individually or in groups.

Pine cones can also be placed around the base of any potted plant. Small evergreens look very festive with miniature pine cones added for additional decoration.

To create a pine cone candle stick holder, find a glass candle stick holder that has a large rim near the top of the candle holder. Use hot glue to glue small pine cones around the rim.

When planning a fall or winter wedding, there are many ways to incorporate seasonal elements into the overall wedding decor. For a natural look, pine cones can easily be added to wreaths, garlands, table centerpieces, and more.
