Yesterday I met with Richard Hicks of Avant Garde Flowers By Design, he was recently the floral director for the Ritz Carlton New Orleans but has decided to branch out on his own. Ladies, his work is beautiful and it get's better, he is truely passionate about what he does. He invited me into his home studio where he offered me a beverage upon arrival and when I left he sent me off with an array of kumquats for my departure. Richard told me a story of when he was a little boy where not even realizing it then but looking back on it he was a floral designer by heart. While I was leaving he says, Daquari the first time you are a guest in my home, but the second you become family. He is a wonderful person, who stays true to his passion and does wonderful work.
