Part I: You're Engaged, Now What!?

Congratulations on your engagement! Whether you just got engaged over the holidays or are blazing through your wedding planning process, one of the most important decisions you'll make for your wedding preparations is who you choose to be your wedding photographer. And with so many talented photographers out there, how do you choose? I think it boils down to several factors...





Consistency in their work.
Websites are great online brochures for photographers since we get to display our images for the world to see, but be sure that you ask to see an entire wedding from start to finish. Make sure that there aren't just one or two great shots that they show on the website, but that they demonstrate great work regardless of the lighting conditions.





Sample Albums.
A great way to see a whole wedding from start to finish is looking through a photographer's Sample Albums! Be sure to ask to see these, especially since your album will become your first family heirloom. Make sure that the quality and offerings are up to par with your expectations.
 




Experience.
Ask your photographer how many weddings they have been the "primary shooter" for. That's photography speak for how many weddings they were specifically hired to photograph. Also ask if they have any other relevant experience in the wedding industry.
