The new Nassau Straw Market in the Bahamas is now open just in time for the busy Christmas shopping season.
The new state of the art Nassau Straw Market was built at a cost of $12 million and replaces the old market which was destroyed by fire in 2001.
The market boost some 37,000-square-foot ground level space and will accommodate over 400 regular vendor stalls, 34 specialty booths designed to showcase authentic Bahamian music, dance and fashion, public washrooms.
The opening of the new Nassau Straw Market restores the iconic and world famous Nassau Straw Market to its rightful place at the center of the Bahamian straw culture and finally giving some 500 straw vendors a much needed home.
