When Sasithon asked if I could second-shoot this wedding with her, she told me the following things - the couple is really into music, they are really cool, they're from England, and, oh yeah, they are getting ready at Wythe Hotel and the wedding is at Brooklyn's Music Hall of Williamsburg. I don't think a second passed before I said YES! And when we did a walk-through of the venue a few days before the wedding, my excitement could not be contained. I knew this was going to be amazing and that we would have a lot of fun.
The day started out at Brooklyn's Wythe hotel where my current favorite band, Tame Impala, was playing through the speakers in the lobby as we waited for the bridal party to arrive. When they arrived all we could say was how "rock 'n roll" their hair and makeup was. And the day just kept getting better from there. This couple is so in love and it was just a joy to photograph their day. Williamsburg, Brooklyn, proved to be an amazing backdrop for their photographs. The colors and quirky character of the neighborhood was just perfect, and we had a long time with just the bride and groom so we could get really creative and romantic photographs of the two of them.
One detail I remember from the reception was the whole crowd dancing, jumping and singing along to Pulp's "Common People" - one of my favorite songs - and of course this was at a concert venue with a stellar sound system, so it was kind of like being at a rock show, and it was so amazing - I thought it would be a great addition to this blog post - it really captures the feel of the whole day, so be sure to hit play as you look through the photographs.
I am in love with this wedding. Hope you enjoy my favorite photos as much as I enjoyed creating them.
