Some ideas that are helpful when meeting with a potential floral designer/florist:
Choose your venue prior to meeting with florist. We cannot make recommendations on decorations or floral pieces if you don't know what venue you will be using.
Ask about the availability of your date
Bring color swatches if they are available. Guessing what shade of red you are using or which blue you want even though you may be call it aqua it could be different for what is called aqua on the color wheel.
Have a list of the floral pieces that you want....# of bridesmaids, corsages, boutonnieres, centerpieces, etc
Bring pictures of flowers that you like and also it is helpful to know if you have some
absolutely not flowers.
Ask to see photos of the florist's work if you have not already seen it
Bring plenty of questions about any aspect of the floral decorating that you don't understand
Let your florist know upfront if you have budgetary constraints. A good florist will be able to make suggestions that will allow you to still have a beautiful wedding using the colors of flowers that you have chosen but with a different flower perhaps.
Choosing a florist should be a fun part of the wedding planning experience. Choose a floral designer/florist not just based on price. Be sure that you are comfortable with their reputation, their work and how well they listen to your wants and needs.
Happy hunting and I will be glad to do a complimentary consultation over the phone or throught email to answer any questions that you may have prior to meeting with your loacal florist.
If you are in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Texas area I am will to set a free 30 minute consultation in person to help you get started on your floral journey.
