Weddings are beautiful, and the reception can be fun and exciting. A well-planned reception allows the happy couple to enjoy time with their guests and the guests to have a good time celebrating the marriage of their loved ones. Make sure that your special day comes off without a hitch by keeping these things in mind.
Small kids, older guests, or those who are less socially inclined may feel overwhelmed by all the noise, people and activity going on. Smokers also need a location away from the crowd. By providing quieter locations in another room or outside in the fresh air, you allow these guests to retreat and have a few minutes to themselves before returning and continuing to celebrate your nuptials. Otherwise, they may instead decide to go home when they start feeling overwhelmed.
Everyone has been to a wedding where someone had a little too much to drink before trying to give a speech, or they didn’t write down their thoughts and thanked the same people repeatedly. Let everyone know that speeches will be limited to a specific amount of time and suggest they write down what they’d like to say so they don’t forget or repeat themselves.
There’s nothing worse than standing with a plate of food in one hand and a drink in the other and not able to find a place to sit down and enjoy them. Or having aching feet from dancing for hours and not being able to find a chair. Make sure your guests don’t feel that frustration or pain by renting plenty of tables and chairs for your wedding reception. Some companies, like Party People Rentals & Sales, know that you don’t have to rent the specific number indicated by RSVPs. Rent extras and scatter them around the space and outside.
If you’re inviting kids to the reception, create a small corner where they can be entertained with bubbles, coloring or water painting books, or custom goodie bags. Hire a babysitter who can handle taking kids to the bathroom, snacks, stories or putting on a movie in another room so the parents can truly relax.
Wedding receptions should be fun, relaxing, and entertaining for all involved. Thoughtful planning ensures that not only do you get to enjoy your day without putting out fires, but that your guests remember your day as beautiful and fun.
