But if you don’t want to sacrifice the floral idea altogether, consider origami flowers. I found a website that charges $3 a flower, but who needs that when you have hands and youtube?
I especially liked this idea because Phil gives me origami roses for Valentines Day. He also had the engagement ring in an origami silk rose when he proposed. It’s cute and efficient because they never die.
They’re still pinned up on my board. Plus, they don’t make me sneeze.
I do have some hesitations here. First off, it might look tacky. Second, if you have eight flowers per table, you’ll need to make 160 origami flowers. I don’t know if carpal tunnel syndrome is worth the
savings.
The third problem is transport issues. I wouldn’t want the flowers to get crumpled, crushed or unfolded along the way.
But it’s a thrifty and meaningful solution, so it’s still on the table (ha ha).
And if we go with a different centerpiece idea, I might still make (or more likely, have Phil make) origami bouquets for me and my maid of honor. And if I really find time on Phil’s hands… maybe boutonnieres!
