Summary

There is no doubt it - one of the few things that your guests will remember about your wedding is the entertainment. A great party is defined by great entertainment. Whether you decide to hire a fabulous 12 piece cover band, a swank Jazz ensemble, or even your favorite DJ, the entertainment you choose will define the tone of the party.

This gorgeous wedding was captured by Julie Mikos (we love her!), but the inspiration for the party and entertainment was brought to the couple by Amy of Amy Nichols Special Events.

When you are considering the best way to express your particular wedding style, especially in regards to the entertainment, you need to consider more than just your own likes and dislikes. The venue can often be your inspiration. If you know you want to dance the night away to the sounds of a great band, then you must choose a venue large enough to accommodate a stage, lighting, and the band. The acoustics of a building are also of concern. Great live entertainment will keep your guests' toes tapping during the evening, but if the space does not have great acoustics, an eight-piece party band may not be the best option.

Entertainment is one of the major investments any couple will make in their wedding celebration. And as with any investment, I always recommend that you consult a professional.  If you are working with a "Full Service" or "Day-Of" planner - consult with them before making a firm decision. On most occasions they will have a definite opinion about what works best and what will be with in your particular budget.

If you are not using a planner, then book your band or DJ through a booking agent like Peter Rudolfi (who is amazing). They can pair you with a variety of different performers and since they work in multiple venues, they can give you venue-specific advice. In the end, you will be guaranteed the right entertainers for your celebration!
