Overview

Indoors, the rooms reverberate sound beautifully thanks to their high ceilings, hard floors, and their profusion of paned glass windows. All music played here sounds lively; however, larger bands and DJs have the potential to create an overwhelmingly high level of volume. DJs work best indoors, so be sure yours is able to be acquainted with the acoustic dynamics of the space in order to avoid any undesirable echoing sounds. It is also important to remember that the neighborhood surrounding the estate requires a 10:00 p.m. curfew for all reception music, so you may want to look into hiring an after-hours acoustic ensemble if you plan to continue the party into the later hours.

Ceremony

Outdoor ceremonies are customary at the Kohl Mansion, but committing to a music style that considers the logistics of the open air ceremony venue work best. Acoustic groups are perfect as the area is secluded so that outside noises don’t compete and there is no need to worry about loud music disturbing nearby neighbors. In order to get the most out of your music budget, consider having the ceremony musicians stay to perform during your cocktail reception.

Reception

Live music in a multitude of styles works well in all of the indoor spaces, including the mansion’s Main Hall, Library, and Morning Room. I Do Venues loves to see a band disassembled and scattered throughout various rooms until the party really gets started. Stationing a solo guitarist by the fireplace while a pianist tickles the ivories on its baby grand piano would make the Library an idyllic space for multiple musicians to play. When the reception begins, everyone can be reassembled as one band again, and you will get an all-encompassing sound that is quite impressive due to the wonderful acoustics the mansion’s antique hardwoods provide!
